Steve Buenger started working for his father, Fred Buenger in their family owned marine hardware stores at a very early age. Fred, being a driven entrepreneur, worked hard to buy his own business, and once that was accomplished, he spring-boarded it into a regional chain of stores and also developed the commercial buildings that the businesses were located in. Steve worked in every aspect of the retail stores and earned himself a management position in the company. Soon he was opening additional locations, and the family expanded their portfolio to include a variety of small businesses.


The commercial real estate aspect was started by Fred who built 2 shopping centers, and Steve was instrumental in leasing out the spaces. Surviving market changes, the advent of Mass Merchandisers, Mail Order, and Internet shopping, Steve learned the challenges associated with running small businesses. He also developed very successful leasing skills in the Commercial centers. Understanding the needs of the business owner and the needs of a building owner make for a winning combination in leasing out properties. After going through a couple of recessions and seeing the shift in marine retail, the family decided to sell their stores and concentrate on Commercial Real Estate. Steve packaged and sold all of the businesses with the exception of the commercial properties. Once the commercial centers were 100% leased, he figured he could offer those same leasing services to other property owners. That is when Buenger Commercial Real Estate (BCRE) was formed.


In 2003, Steve started the commercial brokerage and has expanded the company to provide a wide range of commercial real estate services to the greater Ventura County area and into Santa Barbara and Los Angeles areas as well. With a unique sensitivity and understanding of the elements needed for business success in the Southern California area, our hands-on experience has proven to be invaluable in our commercial real estate dealings.
